We continue to see more and more research published that shows the benefits of gender diversity and female leadership in the workplace. According to a recent McKinsey Diversity Report, companies including women in executive leadership positions experience an increase in financial performance, competitive advantage and happier employees1. We wholeheartedly believe in this notion at UPL, and I couldn’t be more excited to support the launch our UPL Women’s Network. And what better day to launch than International Women’s Day?

UPL has transformed itself into a global agriculture solutions leader, and as we continue to evolve, we are putting a renewed focus around gender diversity because we understand the value women bring to business. The mission of the UPL Women’s Network is to foster excellence in women by attracting and developing female talent and enabling them to manage their personal and professional lives with success, joy and pride. Ultimately, UPL strives to be recognized as a great place to work for women and is proud to demonstrate our commitment to gender diversity and equality with the creation of this important group.

It’s important to note that this network serves a much larger purpose than creating a sense of community. We plan to drive actionable results that benefit UPL and our stakeholders. Our key goals for the program include:   

  • Driving advancement of company’s diversity representation by implementing recruitment strategies and programs for the retention and advancement of women

  • Providing development opportunities for women, helping them grow personally and professionally, with meaningful contributions to UPL’s culture and values

  • Creating opportunities to empower women by creating safe spaces for knowledge sharing, communication, connection, work-life balance support and mentorship

  • Evaluating and implementing programs and resources that support women at a global and regional level

Establishing this network is just the beginning of our journey. We will host events and programs in the coming months and invite all women within UPL to join. Men are also encouraged to participate!
